Are there any companies drilling Marcellus wells or shale wells of any kind in Mon Co?

  • Landowner

    Jack Dumbauld

Since March, Chesapeake has upped the offer from $750 and 12.5 to $1,000 and 15% without me even talking to them!

Is there any drilling going on in Southern Mon cty or northern Marion?

I really don't wish to lease until they are ready to start drilling and I have information on where, when and how they are going to do it.

  • Dave Stewart

I have been in contact with Chesapeake on some western Mon County acreage. However, they don't seem particularly interested in it. I'll let you know if something comes of it.

Thanks for your comment. I just found out my brother has a few acres on Halleck Road. He thinks he has O&G rights. I better prod him to check it out. Of course, if he hasn't been contacted; he probably doesn't have the rights.

I have land leased in Daybrook, WV. Do you know of any drilling nearby?
  • shale man

I have leased land in Western Monongalia County, near Daybrook. Is there any new drilling activity nearby besides Bunner's ridge described in earlier comments?
  • Dave Stewart

According to PA state records Chief has a site in Gilmore Township (north of Daybrook a few miles into PA.) I believe it is the only one in that area. I also think it may be representative of what might be found the areas to it's south (Daybrook). You can check under PA Dept. of Oil and Gas Production Report.  (Two entries - 1H and 2H - in Greene County. They are the only permitted wells shown for Gilmore Township. Each has about 500,000Mcf reported for 2010 2nd half. I'm guessing production started in the 2nd half. Double check this, because this is all new to me.)

My aunt has a fractional share of rights near Daybrook. I'd be interested in hearing a rough idea of what kind of offers are being made in that area.

chesapeake has a well, the Reliance Minerals 3H, 6H, 8H,10 Well, on the map it looks like the unit probably 600 or so acres runs north east of Triune Fire Dept up to Clinton Furnace Rd, they are still leasing a lot in this area, so they will be building more units and drilling more it is looking good for people in this spot, if you have not leased , they will probably will be calling you. the offers i heard last year was $1000 & 15%with deductions,  anyone hears of an offer let us know.

I live on the Halleck Road in Monongalia County and have been approached about leasing my property.  The offer I was made was $1000.00 per acre and royalties of 12.5%.  I was wondering if anyone else had been approached and if so what kind of offers they were receiving.  Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Just heard from a broker regarding the Reliance well near Goshen Road.  I have 1 acre in a subdivision near the well and they informally offered me $1000 and 12.5% over the phone (wants to meet in person with us).  Is it even worth my time to do this with one acre?  I asked the broker and he said they would probably be pulling gas from under us anyway, so we might as well take advantage.  Thoughts?

    Shane,

I've got 98 acres 1 mile from Reliance.  Can you say who the broker is please?  I am wondering if the horizontal line is reaching there?

I sure would like to know.

The broker is Derow Enterprises.  I would assume if the lines are reaching you that you would have heard from them by now.  Last I heard, they will be fracing soon.

I have seen a large number of WV and OH mineral owners asking, or inquiring, about a good Oil and Gas attorney lately in dealing with legal issues that have become very frequent regarding the Marcellus, Utica, and Coalbed Methane plays and their different methods, or negligent behavior, regarding processes such as leasing, drilling, and production. I just want to let the people who need these services know that there are good Oil and Gas attorneys in West Virginia who do nothing but specialize in this industry, and in most cases are cheaper than general practice firms, as they do not take near the amount of time to get your issues solved. I am not an attorney, nor do I give any legal advice, but I have seen a need to connect people with the specialist law firms who can. If you are in need of a good law firm that specializes in Oil and Gas feel free to get ahold of me, I will put you directly in contact with them.   I know what it is like to need the right kind of help, this firm has directly helped me in regard to many issues which other people and places could not. If it is legal help you are looking for, and related to oil and gas in any way, I can put you in touch with the right people who can help. They will talk to you about your case for no charge, they have no allegiance to any oil and gas company, and will give you a straight answer as to whether you have a case, or are going to be throwing your money down a bottomless pit. I truly hope this helps.

I was able to find a website with gas and oil attorneys in WV. Perhaps someone can suggest it. I used William J. Leon, LC from Morgantown. I found him quite professional and reasonably priced.

Does anyone know any companies that are leasing in Monongalia County besides Chesapeake?  Chesapeake made offer of $1,000 auto renewal at 5 years.  Is this comparable with other companies in the area (Clinton District)?

  • Landowner

    Mary Ann

Many of property owners in Clinton district are not planning to sign and do not want wells.  However, I know Chesapeake is currently "knocking on doors" in the neighborhood and making starting offers of $1000/arce.   I know of one offer for $1500 in Hornbeck Rd area and I have heard of at least one contract in Mon County for $4000 per acre.  In every case, auto-renew in 5 years is a very bad idea.  Shorter leases, for 2-3 years with no auto renew, is definately best.   As for Clinton District...most of the larger property owners are not interested.

  • Chris Smith

Who is leasing in the area? I have around 62 acres in Grant. If any of you would like we could form a group to try getting more money. I work in the business so I may be able to find a better deal for all of us! Does anyone have any contact info for any landmen? Please let me know what you all think about that.
