I am thinking about the same Tom. I am sure that there is still some unleased acreage here, but it has to be dwindling down... Also, I just came across an article from the Daily Jeffersonian (local newspaper) that tries to shine some light on the fracking process. Here is the link if anyone wants to read it, or share it... http://www.daily-jeff.com/financial/2011/11/13/business-opinion-myt...
All, I'm coming to the party way late, but wanted to see if it's too late to get in on a lease. I have 11 acres near Kimbolton and just bought it in early August not knowing anything about all this oil and gas stuff going on. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I posted this on the Ohio page, but for all of the guys in Guernsey who are waiting on that big check...... Gulfport is raising cash to fund their Utica interests....see the link....
I'm not an expert in high finance, but that's not something unusual for a company to do. That's why they go public and sell shares on the stock exchange.
I signed with Shell/Holland Services thru the landowners group. I have found a buyer for my house and I am including the mineral rights, but the agreement is I get the bonus check. I have tried a couple phone #'s to contact Shell or Holland to find out what I need to do to ensure I get the bonus, but no luck. Anyone have a contact # I could try? I am out of town and don’t have a copy of my lease or draft with me. These are the #'s I have tried:
Holland Services Company is doing the land leases and title checks for Shell Oil Company. They have set up an office in Cambridge, Ohio 3rd Floor of PNC Bank. Office number is 740-439-2518. Project manager is Bruce Dondzila
I don't imagine there would be... But, never hurts to ask... Is there any way to go more in depth to see particularly who's leases were recorded? Seeing the numbers is a nice thing, but I would like to know if any of my friends/neighbors have actually had their's recorded yet.
I believe the only way to know if they have been recorded is to go to the recorder's office. If you call they recorder's office, I think they will tell you if one has been attached to your land. Holland Services is using a Memorandum and I believe those are being attached before payment to the lessor. My understanding they will be removed if payment is not made in the designated time frame.
My understanding the memorandum can be recorded before the title is checked. The lease states after title due diligence review that the lessor does not have a marketable title to the leased premises, then lessee shall promptly terminate any recorded memorandum of lease it may have filed and this lease shall terminate.
Section 16 in the Holland/Shell Landowner lease state all the information about bonus payment, number of days and verifying lessor's marketable title, etc.
If my bonus is not paid in the time fram on my lease, I will contact an Oil & Gas attorney to communicate with the company and release the "memorandum or lease" from my land title. Would want to make sure this is done. I would hope this would not be the case. Either the bonus upfront lease would be paid or I would receive an explanation as to why my land title was not good and then work to correct the issues.
This is just a rumor, but I heard they would start paying on some of the titles that have cleared in January. I did not hear this first hand, so, who knows for sure. Hope this is true.
Any updates on anything in Guernsey Co.??? It has been awfully quiet around here lately. I did see where the rig is now gone from the injection well site behind Valley N.G. on S.R. 209 across from Walmart.
I contacted Holland Services for an update. They said if you havent been called yet, that is good news. If problems are found on deeds or titles, they are contacting people.
No check in the mail here ! I was thinking about calling the recorders office tomorrow and see what they are able to tell me regarding my title, or if I have to stop in and sending an email to the law firm to see what they have heard.
Good to hear Mr. Bill! & Mickey, please let me know if the Recorder's office is able to tell you anything. If they are, perhaps I will give them a call also.
Some encouraging news to pass on to all of you that signed with KWGD - My father is part of your group and just received his check yesterday on 58 acres! Good luck to all of you!

Gulfport has a permit to drill a horizontal well into the utica shale on the Grohl Farm 1/2 mile west of the old Madison school east of winterset. the site has been staked out. issued 01/26/12. depth 10,000 ft. will be interesting to see what it produces!
I emailed KWGD on Monday, inquiring about their email sent out on the 3rd. Their email stated first 2 weeks defects, next 4 weeks checks. They responded that they have 120 days and have not heard one way or the other on my Lease. I know 4 other landowners who have not heard anything, would be nice if they would give us some kind of status report.
Mr Bill, I've seen a permit with a 8000' horz bore in Ohio and have been told that in South Dakota they typically bore 11,000' and out the same .. so maybe there is some truth in what I've heard about drilling out as far as they go down.
