Trumbull County, OH

Things are heating up in Trumbull County and this is the place to talk about it. The Utica is looking more promising and, for better or worse, Trumbull County could be right in the middle of it.

Any more updates on the Alov deal in Trumbull county?

  • James Kerns

By the decreasing amount of traffic and purposefull interaction by the friendly's on this site, and by my own observations, i feel this site is quickly becoming irrelavent in our quest for a good lease and a fair price for access to our land and its riches. Any comments would be appreciated.

I am curious if anyone who has gotten a lease done and or gotten their Bonus money, is still checking in here?

  • joe

Just a note for everyone out there.  had a neighbor from just over the geauga county line come and ask me a question about a seemingly new company in the area called lario out of colorado.  They are offering 300.00 and 12% but with a new twist of giving free houshold gas.  They are claiming to be looking for utica has and seem to be targeting non leased ground and not going east of the county line "at this time".

  • joe

Thats what i told them.  The company looks legit on-line but they seem to be working the wishguard line looking for those that are not educated on this stuff.  Just thought everyone should know there is another low-baller in town.

Anyone hear anything about the ALOV group in trumbull county

  • Robert J Ellis

I signed a lease with Wellington Resources, LLC in July, 2011.  My signing bonus was due last week, but has not been paid.  I was told that the cost  of gas was so low that they were unable to sell my lease, and that I would have to wait, otherwise, they would lose money if they paid me now.  The gentleman I spoke with was very open that it was within my rights to try and shop my lease on my own, but recommended against doing so.  Has anyone else in Trumbull County actually been paid a signing bonus?  Not sure what to do at this point.

  • Robert J Ellis

    Tom,

Thanks for the feedback.  Do you have contact info for Buckeye?

  • Robert J Ellis

Never mind, got it.  Thanks again.

    Hello,

I live in near Toledo Ohio and own 5 acres of property along Rt 5 about 3 miles south of Kinsman. Might any of my Trumbull County friends share with me the latest area news?  I plan to drive to Warren next month to speak with an attorney about all this and would like an update, plus any important questions, insights or suggestions you may have.

I'll post on the Trumbull Co boards what the attorney shares with me. Being informed and united is the best way to help each other.  And with that in mind, I thank you for all your posts!

Gina, The best advice i know of is try to join a landowner group. I've been reading alot about this stuff and the best way to get the best lease is in a group. I know i have had alot of landman knocking at my door and they are like salesman and will tell you anything to get you to sign. Just be aware.

Has anyone heard of a company called Shale Investment Fund leasing property in trumbull county? I received a letter from them offering $3000 an acre and 17% royalty. I don't know how long the lease is for it don't say. I will just wait for ALOV I trust them.

  • D M

I also got that letter, and I know of several others who recieved it too. We are all members of ALOV, and we plan on being patient. It's a complicated business and I trust ALOV also. I hope we get some good news soon.

  • Kevin Rishaw

My personal ( yet uninformed opinion ) Is that the gas companies are waiting to see more from this area ( aka test well in Parkman ) and that will help determine the interest in Trumbull. seeing as how the Parkman area has been poked at we will see results from ALOV soon. Just my $0.02

Side note as my OCD is kicking in.

Can someone please teach ALOV how to spell Trumbull on their sight.....

  • Richard Liston

We received a letter from Shale Investment Fund as well.  Got online and could not find much on them.  That is the 3rd and highest offer in 4 months, but have no plans on signing with them.

  • Tom Frey

    Richard,

I also received a letter from them. Did your letter tell you how long the lease was for? Mine did not.  Thanks,  Tom

Seems we have another jealous nut on this sight,go away, this movie is nothing but bunk and its been disproven many times over. All it is,is activist B.S..
  • Richard Liston

Tom, no, ours did not either, just a number to call if we are interested.

In November 2011, PAC energy offered us 2000/arce.  Also in Novermber Campbell Development offered 2000 then 2400 then 2500/acre.  Have 69 to lease (brookfield twp).

I have a farm in mercer county we signed with hilcorp in december for 3250 and happy with that.

Very surprised I have not got an offer on a lease in Trumbull as good as my Transfer Pa property.  Have 170acres in Crawford County pa and have no offers at all yet.  - Rick

  • Tom Frey

Richard, May I ask how long the lease was for with the other offers?

  • Richard Liston

Tom,  PAC was ten years with a lease no one in their right mind would sign.

The Campbell Dev. lease was 5 and 5, once again, the lease was not acceptable at all.

Mercer  county lease 5 and 5  - Rick

  • Tom Frey

    Rick, Thanks for the info.

Tri-State Energy recently held meetings for residents in Fowler, Brookfield, etc.  They were offering $3000 an acre.  They promised to pay within 90 day of signing their lease.  They claim, through one of their representatives, that Chesapeak has pulled out and they're taking over.  I learned that Tri-State Energy had been bought and sold a number of times.  They currently own all the Circle K's and 76 Gas Stations.  They also own a large number of oil refineries and oil service supplies.  However, a few years back, they were in Colorado frack drilling with Exon and went belly up when Exon pulled out.  TSE took out a $1.1 million loan from the federal government to help them recover and defaulted on it.  Chesapeak is having financial difficulties and has ceased making  offers at this time.  So, if people are not getting lease offers at this time, it is not because our area has limited potential.  These companies are having money woes.

Any updates for the Trumbull county ALOV group?

  • James Kerns

Hearing some chatter, but its changed from "two more weeks" and then to "We will be sending letters out this week and by the second week in Feb. we will have the meeting", the new one is "Letters will be going out sometime in March, but having hard time finding a meeting location" (BTW Katie Rea told me in Dec. 2011 that the meeting location would most prob. be again at Packard Music Hall and that the letters were ready to go out.)

I had felt my trust was well placed, have defended the leadership of our group when i could, been patient and tried to persuade others to be as well, but i must say being strung along this way is getting very old.

  • john p halloran

    You would know!
  • Tom Frey

Kevin, But it still doesn't hurt to know what is going on around you.
