Thanks for the warm welcome to your site. Not sure if you heard, but I-99 Business Park has been recently reported on by several regional news channels, regarding our interest in further development with the Natural Gas companies. If you know of any companies looking for Head Quarter sites or Shop Space... Please have them call me on my mobile (610) 299-5144 or Rmcmahon@zmcre.com
Not on my computer. When I clickon Pensylvania in the top bar, I get the same choices as I do if I click on "all groups". I do not get just the Pennsylvania counties and Penn Land.
Thanks, Keith. I don't, but the Landman says they are not drilling horizntal, only vertical and not really drilling for Marcellus gas. I'm skeptical to say the least. Hoping this site can keep me from making a big mistake.
I can get a link added to http://columbiacoalition.org/. I don't have any real intentions here other than to be a part of the community and see what people have to say.
Keith, thank you. Studying the Marcellus Shale is one of those things where the more you know the more you realize how little you really know about the subject. If nothing else at all were to come from it, we'd all get a good lesson in geology from the experience. But, I think there is going to be a substantial economic payoff for many individuals as well as some good for an entire section of the country which could use a little help.
thanks Keith, finaly signed our property thru the Wyoming Group, we've been following the gas for quite some time and would like to know how others are making out.
Keith,
I thought I published a comment about Sullivan County yesterday morning. The responce is on my page but it isn't where all of the members can read it. Please let me know what I am doing wrong or just go ahead and move it to the Sullivan site.
Thanks.
Jim
Hi Keith I was wondering if I could find out who these drilling rigs are using for porta john service....My husband and I started this business in April and we have Stone Energy in Wetzel County WV. There is a lot of activity in that county and that is where our business is based (Rt 2 Proctor, WV & Rt 7 Clarington OH) We have heard that sometimes these crews are having a hard time getting porta john companies to go to these far out places. They are not that far for us because we are already in Proctor....Would it be inappropriate to post a business plug somewhere on this site?...Thanks, Amy

I'm a geologist with 10+year experience. I was just laid off on Friday (10/30). If anyone knows of companies looking, Please let me know. I would really like to get involved with the Marcellous gas business.
Keith I understand this site is mostly for land owners. I am employed with a large crane rental company and was wondering if you could please get names of companies who are involved with the shale play. I am fairly well versed on the shale and may know a little more then the average person. By the way my company is very environmentally friendly and involved with the communities that drilling is currently happening.
Sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner. I am a consultant who is in the process of organizing a new landowner group, Twin Tiers Landowners Coalition. I'll let you know when we announce which will be within the next two weeks. My colleagues and I will be providing professional representation at no cost to landowners. All our fees will be paid by the gas company as part of our lease. If you want to see my background, etc. go to www.xrmllc.com. Best regards, Greg
Thanks, Keith. Sorry for the slow reponse. Really like the site, and am hoping to learn a lot, make some friends, and find opportunities. I made it to two of the recent webinars that Penn State hosted entitled "Your Business and Marcellus Shale" and found a wide variety of folks interested in the Marcellus. They were pretty well atended...
As I understand usual leases, all parties to the agreement sign. In a typical gas lease, the land owner signs, and is witnessed by the landsman. The actual oil/gas company doesn't sign. Does this make the lease either illegal, or less binding, or act as a weasel clause for the oil company to walk away from property/aquifer destruction claims? Clarification would be most appreciated.
Dan
Thanks Keith, I'm really enjoying the posts on the message boards. We live in Newton Township (on 31 acres), Lackawanna County (near Clarks Summit) and are waiting to hear back from Chesapeake. Our neighbor (with contiguous property to ours) recently signed with Chesapeake through the Wyoming County Land Owner's group (which we were members of originally but didn't resign with them last summer - stupid us). He signed for $5750.00 an acre and 20% royalty, not too shabby...
Anyway, Chesapeake said that they would be in touch with the Wyoming County Land Owner's group members that didn't resign with the group last June - we're waiting on that communication.
My 5.5 acres is a beautiful hillside lot w/a great view which now includes the main marcellus well being dug about a half mile away on a level farm. The person from whom I purchased my lot owns a thousand acres and owns the mineral rights. I think the only way for me to profit if they go under my property horizontally is if she is willing to give me the mineral rights. I have no clue how much a person can profit. She did tell me the person who owns the farm on which the main well is being drilled will make "millions". If it sounds like I'm a rookie in this, I AM!!
I was out flying over Northeast PA today and took almost 200 photos of wells and other sites of interest. I still have to identify all the photos, but if you want to take a look and use any of them, be my guest.
Right now they are on my photobucket account at:
Thanks for welcome.I come from China,so there is none county groups that i can partincapet in.If there is,it should be named China. That's a joke. Please let me stay here, and i'll try my best to contribute what i know about the shale gas exploration in China for the site.I am so glad to come here and comunicate with everyone.
Still finding my way around your site. I'm not sure what you're looking for in a description, but I control a share of the mineral rights under a 110 acre tract, but do not own the surface rights. I have been approached about leasing, but I am trying to educate myself a little before negotiating.
Tyler Co. is adjacent to Wetzel to the south. As you know, Wetzel County is well under way concerning drilling, but I know of no activity in Tyler yet.
I'm wondering if we might pool some other adjacent counties into a group in order to generate some activity on your site. I see a request from Ritchie Co., which is adjacent to Tyler to the south.
I'd like to see some interest sooner rather than later, but I think it'll take some "boots on the ground", local effort. If we could solidify a group, I would be willing to put forth some of that effort, in the form of flyers/posters, maybe even a paid ad or two. I"m sure the interest is there, but folks don't know where to look.
The site is interesting and I have been assembling a full Paper with as much corralated data as I can find. Our group ws just recently formed as www.Sidneylandowners.webs.com. Our first meeting is Dec 16th at Sidney Library 6PM.
Hi Keith. Thank you for the welcome. I have put in a request for a Monongalia County group on your site. I am pleased to be able to share information regarding health and safety issues and environmental impacts and gain information from other "shalers". Thanks for creating this forum for information exchange. dee
Good morning Keith, glad to meet you. A little about myself have worked in Oil & Gas business for over twenty-five years. My Family owns a house in the Poconos west end Monroe county. Live in Caribbean right now, and work in Virgin Islands, been out of Pennsylvania for Twelve years. Plan on returning back to Pennsylvania next year after my daughter graduates high school she wants to attend college East Stroudsburg Univesity, PA. Glad to see all the activity in the Marcellus Shale. Also member of Boone Pickens, Army Go Natural Gas!
Hello Keith>>>I am hoping that you may beable to help me locate the names and contact number of the contractors that are doing the work for the drilling..My husband is looking for pipeline work..welding...with 20 yrs experience, his own tools, 2 rig trucks, a TWIC card, and many other credentials!! I am at a dead end as far as finding that information! He doesn't need the training...although I know he would have to take a welding test! We would like to get on a job there and i really don't know where to start! thank you so much
Im hoping you could help me. My company owns a hotel and many homes in the New York area. Do you know what company has been contracted yet. We would like to see if they will need any lodging while they are working in the area.
I appreciate the personal welcome, thanks for the site, I am here to learn and make connections with like minds. So, everyone, include me freely in your discussions.
Thanks Keith...interesting site. I'll take a look around, and if I can contribute anything, will be happy to. I've been working the basin for 8 years (20 years in the industry,) and know we can get the stuff out of the gorund without messing up our land and water. Good to be on board. -David
Keith, these guys are just aggregators, self promotores looking for a percentage.
I thoght you prohibited such veiled self promotion ??

"Our mission is to market lands to secure the best possible deal at no cost to our landowners.
The initial leasing plans are for lands in Tioga County, PA, and Steuben County, NY. We plan to offer a lease no later than the first quarter of 2010.
More information will be added in the near future. Please explore our site and compare our approach and professional team. Then join us!
What We Offer
Marketing and Promotion
A Protective and Fair Lease
There is absolutely no obligation for you to sign our lease. But we are confident that our deal will be better than any deal you could strike on your own.
No Cost to You
There is no charge for our services. We take all the risk in promotion and marketing, preparing maps, negotiating a lease, and choosing a fair deal. We impose a percentage fee in your lease on top of the per-acre bid paid by the company. That way, we have an incentive to get you the highest bid possible."
Thanks, I have more questions than anything at this point. Are all gas wells moving to the "fracing" method for extraction these days? Do pre-existing wells need to amend their permits to add fracing? Or already using? I hope to find some info. about drilling companies and methods within the NYS DEC Mineral Resources data base but haven't looked as yet. I'm expect much of this info. is public but not sure. My specific interest is Stueben Co. but I'm inclined to do some learning for professional reasons as well. We'll see?
