I found after educating myself for a few weeks on different landowner websites I was comfortable dealing with the landman. I also think I had a landman who was very easy to deal with and not pushy one bit at all.

The best advice I have is to research, research, research! Understanding the lease terminology is of utmost importance if you do not plan on hiring an attorney.
