Does anyone have an update on the Marchand Unit in North Mahoning Township.  One unit is producing and four additional permits are on the books.

SK - Thanks for providing  this article.  It identifies how complex the process of developing these wells is while maximizing profit.  Yes to your question if this is a CNX friendly site.  In CPA the major E&P gas companies are CNX & XTO.  The results of the Marchand Utica well is vitally important to the future development of our area.  Whether gas royalties are paid out over many years or in a large initial payment is a question like winning the state lottery.   What is most important is whether CNX or XTO like what the area offers for deep dry Utica gas!!  Did you read the Completion Report for the Marchand well?   Any insights into what it means for our area?

Thanks SK

Yes, I read it, thank you for uploading it. The way it reads to me, this is either something new with completing wells differently now, to where the the IP and flowback has to be interpreted on some entirely new basis, or else the well is simply not in the same league as the earlier three CNX Deep Dry Utica completions in Westmoreland Co. If the latter turns out to be, that would likely be a major setback for Indiana Co Utica development in the near term, But I'm just an interested landowner with no inside track about where this all may be headed, so I do hope I am proven wrong about it being a setback.

I don't think that completion report is worth worrying about. The reports for the Aikens wells (at least the ones on the PA site don't have an IP number on them and the shut in pressure is over 2,500 psi lower than this well.

Paul -  any news on the conclusion for this well yet?   Is CNX comfortable with the results?   What will they do if not?  Is the new gathering pipeline completed yet?

Today I noticed the pipeline ROW seemed to be uncompleted and has straw mulch sprayed on it.  Mounds of dirt haven`t been leveled, too.   Anyone know why the pipeline hasn`t been finished yet?   Any updates on the well performance?

My sources tell me that due to the poor well results CNX has decided not to install the proposed "high pressure " pipeline.

So Michael in your judgement, what does this now mean for further development in northern Indiana County?   Was it a bad frack job?  Everything looked promising for a great well.  What went wrong?  Will XTO continue with their plans for two new Utica wells near Trade City?   Is this a PR problem now for CNX?

I think this goes back to my comments a month or so ago questioning CNX in CPA. There is no doubt that there is gas here and in large quantities. But companies just dont understand the utica in PA as well as the Marcellus or even the Utica in Ohio. It's going to take time and there are going to be duds (duds that are as good or better gas producing wells than Marcellus, costs just offset the economic rate of return).. I have no clue about this well being good or not but we should still question the results in CPA until CNX has more than a handful of wells. Looking forward to them disclosing the results.. if they do..

The Marchand well was a major "step-out" well to delineate CNX Utica acreage on strike from their very good Utica wells near Beaver Run Reservoir, the Gaut & Aikens wells. Future production data from the Marchand well will ultimately determine how good or bad the well is. Will be interesting to see if XTO drills their permitted Utica wells in the area. Time will tell! Gas prices must get better too!

Michael - What does step-out well mean?   How will the Marchand Utica  well be allowed to produce gas now that the high pressure pipeline has been suspended from completion?  The existing Marcellus gathering pipeline would have a lower pressure rating, right?

I passed by the CM Smith pad site today and saw their sign along with ribbons & flags marking the new access road location.  Looks like they may be preparing to continue with their plans.

I invite everyone to review CNX March 13th Investors Report and see & hear the level of excitement to drill this well.   Could the frack job have been the problem?   From what I saw of the pad during the fracking process it did not seem to have all the trucks and equipment present that I have seen on other pads.  Was this new technology?

"Step-out" well being an exploratory test well drilled away from proven "Utica" production.  I have no idea what production facilities and or pipeline pressures are located on the Marchand Pad. If they are moving dirt on the CM Smith pad is a good sign.
