Just curious...

I am in Liberty township and a few months ago got an offer to buy my royalties for 1500 to 1800 per acre, but they would do a more in-depth look if I was serious which "mite change the numbers" slightly....even tho I am not drilled or receiving any royalties ..talked to a landsman rite b4 I contacted them and he advised caution as there will be "significant" activity in my area in the "near future"....how about it, anybody else get an offer or hear anything or see any activity here in Tioga Co. ?

So now you are assuming I am a pro-censorship person. <grin>
Anyway, this is a non-government website so "censorsorship" wouldn't apply.

OH C'mon now lets just drop the frizzled feathers.  I go back myself to refresh my mind what was taking place on this thread too.  I am very tempted to put my printer to work to get hard copies of everything discussed.

I have seen a lot of changes in my 83 years. And I have spent hours and hours hiking through the wooded acres on the Painter farm and Brugger land before Painter acquired it. And yes I have conflicting feelings about the major changes being made today. I recall ruts deep enough almost to bog down a horse and wagon just off route 49 thru that swampy area between Marty Heyler and Floyd English. (My great, great, great Grandfather, Ayres Tuttle built the green house on the north side of route 49. and he owned property clear to where David Moon lives now!)

All of the original families, neighbors of mine, have died off or moved away with exception of  Afton Brugger/Heyler.

So lets honor the legacy we are now enjoying after the many changes and hardships made by previous residents.

I noticed that the "Painter land" farm fuel area has added a concrete pad and wall to contain their fuel tanks.  A great idea! It is easy to over fill a tractor fuel tank or a five gallon can with these non automatic shut off fuel pumps.

What part of the past discussions have been eliminated, do you think? I think that I have become somewhat of a pariah in the Middlebury area and with SWEPI. I would be happy to give any information previously posted by me to anyone who wants it. (Did I spell "pariah" correctly? If not, blame Spellchecker.)

Thanks, Old Timer.  My story has not been a complete success so far, but that is my own business.  If nothing else, I want people to be aware that these huge gas companies are Not going to be your friend once you sign a lease of any kind with them.  They will be a huge, international, business participant in a legal arrangement with you , which they will exercise to the fullest extent that their vast legal team and past legal litigation experience of several decades, to the greatest of their benefit.  They have no qualms about breaking the terms of a contract as long as they feel you will be too weak financially or emotionally to fight them.

I think some of the older posts were lost in the switch to the other site ... and back again. But, more recently, Josie's (and Mineral Owner's) posts seem to have been targeted for deletion. My hunch is that it has been at her initiative, for unknown reasons. The only other possibility that comes to mind is that the deletions got rid of a lot of copyrighted material posted without permission. There could have been complaints to the site owner.

"censorship" refers to any party with the power to do so limits what can be seen/read/heard by another. Parents practice censorship all the time. Newspaper editors practice censorship by deciding what they want to publish. Webpage owners also practice censorship. It's not always a bad thing.

To "censor" user communications, providers would have to monitor them. Don't know about now, but in the early days of the internet, some ISPs preferred to have the protection of being viewed as a "common carrier", like phone companies had. Generally, a phone company can't be held responsible if, for example, criminals use the phone company's service to plan a bank hold-up. The phone company can claim ignorance when they don't monitor customer communications. (With exceptions.)

"The term censorship derives from the official duties of the Roman censor who, beginning in 443 b.c., conducted the census by counting, assessing, and evaluating the populace. Originally neutral in tone, the term has come to mean the suppression of ideas or images by the government or others with authority. ..."

I have noticed that up in the right hand corner of my postings there is a very small star. Just for the fun of it,  I punched that star  with the pointer. A noticed came up giving me the choice of deleting that particular posting. I  made the choice of deleting that particular posting as it was a bit of humor concerning crawdads and mud and really added nothing to the discussion.

Is it possible that something might have taken place with the postings that you are concerned about?  I presume the star appears only for the poster it concerns. In other words, a self activated deletions!

How about that, Bill. I had never noticed that ... an "x" in the upper right hand corner of a window is a common control to close the window. I had (incorrectly) assumed that after the 15 minute cancel period a user would have to contact support to cancel posts. Not sure the easy cancel is a good idea.
