Are you sure you own your minerals?  Most leasing companies do a preliminary title search before attempting to get a lease signed, so if you don't, they won't approach you, but the actual mineral owner.

The recent Smith-Goshen/Rice Energy deal took everything S-G had to offer in Belmont county.

I know several in Richland were part of S-G group.  Hess has a large position in Richland.  I know Hess was making offers to large tracts in Richland six months ago or so.

I spoke with Hess, they are not that far west/north/south.  the S-G wont accept new members & I found out about it only a month after it was closed.

Every company I spoke to said they are not currently in that area.  And I called about 35 companies in the area.  All said the same thing.  "We are not currently accepting leases in your area."

S-G is a landowner group and they couldn't accept you because the group signed a lease months ago. Once a landowner group signs with a producer, the group's ability to take on new members ends.

Who has leased the properties that surround yours? Have you talked to those neighbors?

Check with Rice Energy once more. At a meeting this week they stated they will lease additional acres in Belmont. Richland twp should be in an area of interest.

I wondered the same thing as I am in Richland township and it seems like everyone in Belmont County got in on the rush but us.
