I’m bringing this topic over from the shaleforum. Does anyone know the intentions of these guys? As of yesterday they have leased over 10,000 acres(April 2017- present) in Knox county. Some info from shaleforum members include: they are paying $100/acre for all strata and East Ohio Oil and Gas is a shell company for Western Land Services. Any other information is appreciated.

Looks like something to do with the Columbia Storage Fields to me. I may be wrong. There’s a big Mansfield lawyer that signed up for their $100/acre. I can’t imagine he would sign away his farms for that dollar figure.

So East Ohio dedicated the recently acquired acreage to Columbia Midstrem and Columbia Energy Ventures for Gas Storage? Butch from the shaleforum was in negotiations with them and said his offer didn’t not include storage rights and I doubt the lawyer you are talking about would sign away his farms for storage at $100/acre.
Just thought of this. Any chance this is related to Precision Geo running seismic across the storage fields in Richland, Ashland and Holmes counties?

Geez. I didn’t realize this. Paying big bucks to run the thumper trucks across the storage fields. Stay tuned.

I personally don't know anything about this particular topic, HOWEVER,  underground storage is the very next development in the our shale play.   Weather it is use of old storage fields or the storage of ethane in underground salt deposits.   Always something new to be aware of in the shale play.

I really hope Columbia/TransCanada didn’t trick these people into signing away their O/G rights for underground storage via a “shell” company (East Ohio Oil and Gas LLC). Always speak with a lawyer before you sign, I guess.

Not sure if this could be related but interesting to say the least.....

You hit the nail on the head. Explains the seismic over the Columbia storage fields and if the exploratory well is 1 mike south of Hayesville that puts it right in the storage field. Oh the Anti’s are going to have fun with this one.

Hi all, just found this thread and joined the site. I was on the shale forum but it no longer works?? James I have been trying to contact you over on that site.

I have an East Ohio Oil and Gas lease proposal in my hands for my Knox County acreage. There is an addendum that states that it does NOT include any storage rights. I have not talked to anyone else who has an actual lease or proposal. The landman told me last night that they currently have over 44,000 acres under lease in tbe area. BS? Who knows. I know that they have leased a large amount of acreage in the Green Valley area. I buy the Utica play gamble but not the storage field suggestion.
Land owners are gambling too, if they hit gas in a bug way you leased for cheap, if they miss you got a very big check for nothing other than signing your name. Last time Utica leasing was hot around here was when the sensibaugh(spelling?) well was drilled and when it didn't pan out all offers were suddenly no longer valid and those that held out got zippo. I think I am going to sign because under any known play including this one my property is on the fringe and the check for 2 years isn't anything to sneeze at.

I can’t blame you one bit Butch. ASSuming that Cabot has acquired the Utica rights to the Columbia Storage Fields and has leased around 10000 acres in Knox in 2017 it leads me to believe they think there might be some hope for the Utica in this area. I don’t know much about Cabot but let’s hope they give it a better shot than Devon. I have a farm near the Sensibaugh well drilled in 2012.

Since he first knocked on my door the landman has been saying that the interests are in a mid level depth gas field, not Utica depth. (Mid level is my term, he had a name for it  that escapes me). For what they are after they need "40 acre squares" . Seismic work has been happening just North of Mt Vernon so it would appear that they are getting ready to do something in the area?

When you say just north... like Fredericktown/Knox Lake Area?
