Has there been anyone who signed on for the utica shale (below the top of the Queenston) and then sold the above stratus separately which would be the marsellus----we have had some iquires, have been looking around the sight but have not run across anything.
Hello it is good to have a site to help people get involved, there is too much mis communication from some of the in between lease resellers and it causes people to fear losing there offers. Most of the things i have seen compare our area to the texas barnett shale and the value of wet gas is about double as
Keep up the good work with your site it is very helpful in keeping some of us from signing a long committment and regretting it later, I believe it would be great to I look forward to see what is on here in another year when the development has gained information . Your site would probably be a great place later if you communicate the jobs that are sure to come to the various areas after the real operations have kicked in . I believe all of your audience would agree with thanks for your efforts in keeping us informed
I have sent my request to the Portage County, Ohio Group with no succcess (waited about 7 days for approval). I am a landowner that wishes to establish an open Portage County discussion forum. Can I start a new Portage County Group that is open to all.
I have 11 acres in Clarion County, and I have been contacted by one gas company to lease. But I have not heard back from them even after I tried to contact them.
Do you know of any other gas companies that would be interested in leasing my land.
Any help you can provide will be appreciated, thanks
Hi Keith, I have been enjoying the site, sharing information, recomending it to friends and neighbors, and contributing in a respectful and positive manner along with others of like mind. There are several persons who are threatening to bring all of your and our work to an end as it is turning many of us off big time, and we are signing in and contributing less and less. You have landmen and others from the O&G industry, shamlessly self-promoting, spreading misinformation, confronting and badgering your many members in good standing. I sure would appreciate some oversight and action on your part to put a stop to this. Respectfully, James Kerns
I watch this site regularly and it seems that main topic is leases and %'s. As a signed up landowner I am interested in the actual activity of where the plants and drilling sites are located. I would love to see an updated map of wells and plants in Butler County. I am just an owner of undeveloped property and would like to keep on top of the progression. I read about the Sarsen Plant in Jackson Township and since my property is located in Jackson, I am optimistic. If it is possible to have a map included, I think everyone that has already signed would be grateful.
Hi Keith, Thanks for your reply and i do understand the time commitments involved. The Gentleman Adam Thomas with Wishguard has been highly inflamatory, gotten many contributing members in good standing highly agitated, and seems to take great joy in twisting and re-twisting facts. He has done well in his mission, having taken away much of the educational merits of this site and dragged everyone down in the drilling mud if you will. Let these landmen pay to post their business cards in the margins and keep them out of the forums. They have no business engaging the landowners here. If we are interested in hearing their self promotion we can contact them privately. Thank You. Respectfully, James Kerns, Kerns Ranch and Game Inc.
I have found this site very useful, and appreciate everything you have done. I have learned a lot on many topics that affect me as a landowner. Thank you.
In the finger lakes region of CNY, some folks have been "snookered" by those that do not understand fracking. The Skaneateles Journal published an article that really needed a level response. Here is that response:
Skaneateles Journal:
As a believer in science, truth and facts, and a past President of an Environmental Firm with vast experience with the petrochemical industry, I firmly believe this methodology being used today is 100% effective and safe. The regulations, stringent as they are, have mitigated the environmental impact of this process to nearly zero. The proven technologies from firms such as ESPH will provide ultimate safety with hydrofracking.
Additionally, firms such as GasFrac have successfully utilized a fracking process that uses ZERO water - and they have done this at 100's of locations.
The benefits of extracting this incredible abundant, clean, economical source of energy - which we need desperately - far exceed the infinitely minute and mostly hyperbolic concerns of those individuals that oppose this process. If you have any desire for our state and country to overcome our current dependency on foreign sources of energy, this is the answer. If you have any desire for our children and grandchildren to live in a free and prosperous nation, this is the answer.
If you are seeking to have our current and future generations slaves to foreign interests and with no hope of positive growth and success, you will be happy to defeat those that seek to keep America strong and self reliant.
In the process of making your decisions, keep science, truth and facts as your guide - with ample consideration for our future as a nation and a people.
Together we can do this...we can do it safely, efficiently and profitably - we will all benefit. Consider the jobs, the revenue to the state in permit fees and taxes, consider the day when America can be completely self sufficient in her energy needs. Consider how our environment will be vastly benefited from this clean energy source.
I believe this is what is referred to as a "no-brainer". Let's get this done together.

Over a year ago I wrote and copyrighted a book concerning the Utica/Pt. Pleasant play in Ohio. I update in once a month as to drilling activity or other pertinent news. Several members have expressed interest in buying it, but I have resisted until now. Can you give me any input please as to how to advertise on your site? My book is in excess of 100 pages, including exhibits, but is written in layman's terms, and I think landowners would find it to be a wealth of information.
Wonder if site should be renamed Marcellus/ Utica rather than just Marcellus. The term Marcellus shale unfortunately seems to be used in a restrictive way, but also is often used in posts to this site to refer to the Utica Shale or both the Marcellus and Utica /shales. I have been told that Marcellus Shale under my land in western Venango County is insufficiently thick to have value but that the underlying Utica Shale may be reasonably good. It would be nice if shale articles were better at stating the specific shale formation or formations under discussion.
H, Keith - great site you've created. Is it possible for me to cut and paste web addresses? Do I have access to all the boards, or just the Muskingum County?
