A Lyric Parody of Anti-Gas Proponents Based Upon "Blinded By The Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band

As I have been reflecting on the many posts and EID articles regarding various nefarious efforts to thwart and ban natural gas development in NY and PA, I was drawn to the subject song as a basis for the following modification to the original lyrics:

Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights

Madman drummed-up numbers,
Idiots in the councils with false prophets on the stumps
with their lame arguments as the landowners shake their heads
With a recorder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda bolder,
I tripped the record button in order to recount

With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the economy crashed to the ground
The economy crashed to the ground

But she was...
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights

Some anti-gas sister with a truth-twister told them she had the answer

She said "I'll turn you people on to something wrong,
create the rules to make the drillers not belong"
And no-drill Tony was ever so phony as he tried to add his baloney
And little Chippy-Dippy came by with his lippy-lippy and asked me if I needed a lie
Asked me if I needed a lie

But she was...
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights
She got down but she never got tired
She's gonna take away their rights
She's gonna take away their rights

But mama, that's where the truth is
But mama, that's where the truth is
Mama always told me to look into the facts
But mama, that's where the truth is
Some brimstone baritone anti-fracing rolling stone preacher from the east
Says, "Dethrone the landowners, hit them in their pocketbooks,
that's where they expect it least"
And some new-mown hypocrite was standin' in the corner,
watching the landowners wince
And some fresh-sown elite was messin' with his frozen zone, reminding them of a prince

The economy crashed to the ground
But she was...
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights,
crapped up like a goose,
on holiday nights
Blinded to their rights
Madman drummed-up numbers,
Idiots in the councils with false prophets on the stumps
with their lame arguments as the landowners shake their heads
With a recorder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda bolder,
I tripped the record button in order to recount
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the economy crashed to the ground
The economy crashed to the ground
Now Willie went silly and found a drilling site with frac sand blowing
And some wild-eyed flip-side within inhaling range said, “I’m going”

Some anti-gas sister with a truth-twister told them she had the answer

She said "I'll turn you people on to something wrong,
create the rules to make the drillers not belong"

"Blinded by the Lights" was a Bruce Springsteen song

You are so right, I used the revised lyrics from the Manfred Manns Earth Band version.
