Driving East on PA 62 I saw that they have yet to complete the pipeline to get the gas to market!
John; did they drill a new well or flaring the old one? If the old one, do they have to flare it because it was idle for so long? Is this a sign they believe it will be online soon?
There were rumors last year that they (Halcon) were talking about two new pads near Polk....any word?
It's the "old" well and I have no idea why they are flaring it again. There is no way it is going on line anytime soon, there's no pipeline. The talk of two new pads has all but ceased. Last week I noted a very large skidder going up to the well site as well as various construction vehicles entering and exiting. Tonight the flare is at least 40 feet in the air and as large as I've ever seen it and I have seen it everyday that it is or was flaring, since the beginning.
The Allam well is the best well Halcon drilled in the northern Utica. It appears that someone is taking a long look at the IP rate of that well. It was my understanding that the 2 new Halcon permits were for the Allam and Rainbow pads that are already constructed. This looks like good news for Venango county.
Remember, the Hickory bend pipeline is now at Venango's doorstep.
National Fuel Gas has both storage and pipeline capacity in that area.
Couple of possibilities come to mind. One, its been idle for some time and they needed to see how it responded.....is it still productive enough to justify the expense of running a line to it? Is the shale good enough to drill more laterals? Do they need to flare to remove an excess of water? Did they do, or will do more work, requiring flaring off the well?
Once again we are on the outside, trying to figure out what is going on behind the walls.
We can hope, huh? Anything would be better than the status quo at this stage of the game...
Is the flare from the Allam well still burning brightly? My understanding is that if the flare did not diminish over 28-30 days, this would me very good. Seems to me that this is about day # 20.
Are there any "boots on the ground" that can post an interim report since John Hastings" initial report of June 9, 2014?

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
