Antero finalizes Ohio land deal, gains 12,000 acres

Jan 15, 2015, 2:01pm EST

Denver-based Antero Resources Corp. has added to its Utica Shale holdings, closing on an acquisition of 12,000 net acres in Ohio.

In an operational update, the company (NYSE:AR) said the acreage, for which it paid $240 million, is primarily in Monroe County. It said the acquisition gives it 115 new locations on which to drill, plus five producing horizontal wells and an eight-mile, high-pressure gathering pipeline.

The five wells are yielding 20 million equivalent cubic feet per day, it said.

Also, Antero said it put 136 Marcellus Shale wells and 41 Utica Shale wells into production during 2014. A company presentation indicates Antero will continue running 21 rigs on its regional shale fields in 2015, eight in the Utica and the remainder in the Marcellus.

Although it is not increasing the number of rigs over 2014, the company said it expects to grow production by 45 percent to 50 percent in each of the next two years. The gains are expected to come on more efficient wells with improved designs.

Antero said it is sitting on 542,000 net acres in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Anyone know the location of this acreage and the company it was purchased from?   Supposedly if your leased acreage is transferred to another company you are to receive notice.  Has anyone on this site received notification?

And since the press release says they will spend 150 million on land acquisition in 2015, this transaction apparently is credited to 2014.
