Hi, David.  I live in Armstrong County and I'm not aware of anyone making recent offers in Armstrong County, other than what was happening with the deal that Snyder, MDS Energy, BLX, Knapp, etc. were putting together.  Of course there are others, but I haven't really heard of many offers in Armstrong County more recent than late 2010.

Where are you located in Armstrong County, and who is offering you the bonus?

Also, although I haven't posted prolifically in this forum, I read as often as I can.  There's so much to know, and there are many folks posting here who are very knowledgeable.  Many will tell you to be very careful about signing, and not to do that until an experienced attorney in gas leasing has reviewed the lease.  I would also recommend reading here as much as you can.  Stick around!

Brad.

Live of Furnace Run Rd in South Buffalo. Mds is talking about a well on or near the Bible Institute of exit #18. Their telling me a bonus of 251.00 per acre because yhe gas in Armstrong is called DRY gas and not WET gas. Any truth to that?

David

David,

There is indeed truth to that.

Here's a blog that I wrote a while back discussing wet and dry gas.  In the interest of full disclosure I should mention that I work for MDS Energy, but this piece was picked up by many media outlets and verified as accurate.  Hope this helps.

Thanks

thanks, mike

mike,

where is the line that shows oil in the marcellus?  or is absent of oil.  I see many graphs showing the utica's dry, wet, and oil zones - have yet to see one for the marcellus.

thanks

Does anyone have the defined zones in the Utica, as they enter the PA line from Ohio for oil?

is there a map showing the oil you are talking about?

sorry mike about all of the confusion.  Fang mentionted that the marcellus has some oil - i just wanted to see a map which outlines the areas where the Marcellus has oil.  I have seen many maps of the utica showing all three areas - just none for the marcellus.  I understand that that it is mostly dry - however there is some oil and would think this would be the one mapped because of its value.

It's difficult to make out the counties in the 'oil and wet gas' portion, but believe Crawford Co. may be there...  It doesn't go up to the great lakes so hard to follow... Thanks

This map is for the Marcellus, isn't it? The wet dry line for the Utica is 30-50 miles west of this, I believe.

Yes, this is for the Marcellus.  If you click the link to my blog there's a nice graphic in there that shows the oil/wet/dry windows in the Utica.
