Note that the acreage values Mr. Wilson discussed were average values for the producers, i.e. these are not values that producers are paying to landowners as bonuses or as an NPV calculation equal to the sum of bonuses and royalties. However, it is a good trend, and, if it is anything like the Eagle Ford, one should expect to see landowner payments (at least in the oil and NGL windows) increase.
Note that landowners who held out for higher payments down in the Haynesville were disappointed when the producers moved rigs to focus on more liquid-y plays. Yes, be happy that the UticaPP is proving up. But don't be too stubborn about accepting a price because you are trying to top tick the trade.
Part of the reason prices are $6-7,000 is that Halcon waaaaaaay overpaid for the NCL deal. They wanted to get in and they paid dearly for it.
I hope they want to drill the NCL leases fast to get their money back
They do, which is obviously good news for landowners. But it will take some time to get that investment back. That was a lot to spend in one day.
