I just read an investment article that referenced a research analyst note stating that the "Utica acreage in the 'core of the core' of the wet gas play could be worth as much as $40,000/acre". Of course this is the value of the acreage to the E&P and not the value of lease offers being made. However, this information is exciting and gives us landowners some additional information regarding the potential of at least the core area of the Utica. The author thought that based on current well data, Gulfport might be well situated in the 'core of the core'.
