has anyone found maps that show the acreage assigned to a particular well, especially to horizontal drilling?  there is talk of 640 - 1280 acre plots but am not finding any maps to show where the lines are or who would be included in the well royalties.

Declarations of pooled units are recorded in the courthouse of the county in which the well is located. There are several online search systems you can use to access these records if you do not live in the area of the drilling and have ready access to the local courthouse. Landex.com or the infocon county access system are the ones I use. In PA.

What state and county is the land in question located?? That will help forum members guide you to the right place to find the info you are seeking,

Also depends on how quick the drilling company is in filing this paperwork as to whether or not you will find it (At least thats the case in PA) we are in a producing unit since Nov 2011 and there is still no DPU filed...

Are you in Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia?
