What's going on with EQT? There seems to be people talking about the Utica not being as good as it was originally thought to be..... So, some land owners are getting spooked and selling off some royalties to these companies in the area advertising to buy your minerals.... Is this a ploy by these buyers to entice some of us not to wait for development and sell now? Anyone have insight about this? Is the article in last nights Jeffersonian about EQT is cause for concern?

The Utica is dead, however since I am a nice guy I will pay you $100 an acre. That's what is going on lol

What did the article say?

Youd have to read it for yourself but in essence it said that they are reevaluating the Utica because they have not done that well with their drilling activities..... google Daily Jeffersonian Cambridge Ohio and look for front page news article

You can take the public information at face value for the short time being.
I think EQT is three or four (Utica Assets) chess moves ahead of what many are all thinking at the moment.
The way they are playing this, I see two potential strategies, possibly a third.
Consider this and ask yourself this question:
I am a Pittsburgh based utility, typically a natural gas exploration production company.... finding and proving reserves for my utility base.... I find myself in in an oil producing area of the Utica shale... a technically challenging area to navigate...... I have $80,000,000 of leased assets.... some are 2 years away from primary terms expiring..... I am not totally pleased with my first three wells production.... What strategy do I put into place to minimize my exposure? This we know: EQT announces the 21 well drilling program for 2014, then four months later publicly shelves the 2014 drilling program ($145,000,000) before completing the last five wells. Two weeks later do a land swap for acreage in Texas....
No one really knows the next move for sure.... you draw your own conclusions. You can bet there will be one of three things happen.

Thanks Tony, that makes sense.... Appreciate your insite

Don't sell. We kept these properties when they were barely worth anything. Why take a chance know. Hold on until you know the value. Good or bad
