The Ross #1 well near Maryland spudded today. The first of three verticle wells permitted by NYS to test the Devonian Marcellus, Silurian Oneida and the deeper Ordovician Utica Shales.
The Ross well will be drilled to a depth of 5000 ft. and is expected to reach target depth within one week.
" The Ross No.1 well is the first of a series of exploration wells for possible gas production in this new area. Using the best available technology and environmental procedures, we hope to evaluate a major and as yet untapped natural gas resource for production potantial"
