In my last post I spoke about a Huffington Post article about a study linking oil and gas development to birth defects. In that article the writer inferred that the local health department concurred with the study. As it turns out the health department did not agree with the conclusions of the study and issued a stern rebuttal :
...the (health department) " specifically disclaims responsibility for any analyses,interpretations, or conclusions."
A further statement from the health department - we " disagree with many of the associations in the study which rely on miniscule statistical references." "The researchers also ignored many factors besides oil and gas development in their research." In other words they didn't consider other sources of the substances found (probably an intentional oversight). A statement from the health department concluded that " a reader of the study could be overly concerned,..."
Typical environmental activist tactic. Mis-state information and hope no one calls you on it. Well I am calling the author out and the authors of the study.
