I read just a few lines in GASFRAC's press release of 11/14/14 that says:

"GASFRAC has just commenced fracturing its first well in the Utica Shale formation.  A number of exploration and production companies have an ownership interest in this well and are closely monitoring the project with the potential for GASFRAC to perform fracturing services on other wells in the Utica Shale formation."

Here is link to press release, but I have quoted all that is stated about the Utica fracking.

Now today I read some comments made by EV Energy Partners saying:

"In other news EV Energy Partners said production could begin in December on a much watched Utica oil well in Tuscarawas County.  The company drilled the experimental well with eight other industry partners Walker(company's executive chairman) said. "This is a test of what could be EnerVest and EVEP's most valuable asset in the Utica," he said.  Getting oil from the Utica shale has proven to be difficult for drillers to date.  That well near Uhrichsville is being hydraulically fractured or fracked with liquid butane and mineral oil.  That should be complete in two weeks.  "We're excited but cautious as we are bringing new technology to bear in this process,"  said company president and CEO Mark Houser.  "We are in the middle of the completion operations and have completed five of the 20 (fracking) stages so far."

Source of these comments is at:

Question is who are the other eight partners?

Alot of reasons to break the OPEC monopoly pricing racket.

Developing and using our own natural resources / energy sources (especially natural gas) is the way to do it.

And it needs to be done like yesterday - really like a couple of decades ago.

All as always only IMHO.
Boycott OPEC.

A cold war is better than a hot one.

Let the OPEC fend for and fund themselves.

Money we provide them is thrown back at us by enemy states / terrorist organizations anyway. How much I wonder ? Why do this ? It's like shooting ourselves in the foot if you ask me.

Only IMHO.
Both / all of them.

If they're not with us they're against us.

How far are we from 'sideways' right now anyway ?

I think things are 'sideways' already myself.

IMHO.
Things seem to me to be sideways enough for me to call them sideways Jesse.

IEDs - really - they aren't germane to this conversation and we don't want them to be.

If we don't buy their damn oil there should be nothing to go to war over should there be ?

Joe, as one who has had such thoughts as jesse prescribes, having "been there", I would have to agree that things could certainly be more "sideways" and we have it pretty good here in the good old USA most days. I then also agree that IEDs may be a little off topic.
MJ,

First, welcome home to you and as I'm thinking Jesse reads also to have 1st hand experience and along those lines of course welcome home to him too.

I'm from the camp that wishes you fellows never had to go in the first place.

I served also but quite awhile ago now and so you know I wish I didn't have to either.

We need now to keep our eyes on the path forward - the past is only a lesson.

All only IMHO.

Don't know but GasFrac is a public company on the Toronto exchange and sells for 60¢. I hope it works but the market has basically said it is a dud. Cross your fingers. Be a very nice speculative play however. If it works, it will radically change the "Fracking" dynamic since it uses no water.

It's filings with the Canadian regulators may disclose those partners.

Thanks for your contribution Lerret.

Since the prevailing (normal) technique uses water to fracture the shale I'm thinking fracturing with a Gas instead of water would work out to be a niche market type of application in the 1st place - but perhaps only 'so far'.

That could (should ? / would ?) translate into a low volume smaller company perhaps explaining the $0.60 per share - couldn't (shouldn't ? / wouldn't ?) it ?

Maybe it would be a good bet to buy some shares - you know - a buy low sell high opportunity perhaps ?
But I'm just sayin' you know - it's only me thinking out loud - throwing around hypothetical scenarios.

And I think some folks think that I think funny too.

FWIW (or not worth).

You would crush production since it isn't working nearly as well as conventional methods. The Feds need to stay out of the business of engineering.  The conventional slick water frac is the best technology but it is possible where there is a supply of cheap of "liquids"

BTW if you used propane and butane to frac all the wells now, you would create a crisis in areas where home heating is from propane, driving the price up and it would, in my area, likely bankrupt any poultry farm dependent upon propane for energy.  A typical poultry farm will use $80,000 worth of propane in a year.

Re.: '......The conventional slick water frac is the best technology.......' :

Thinking very true for the areas that have seen the lion's share of the development so far; but thinking not so true for the 'tight shale' areas of the Utica that the GasFrac is targeting (hence the GasFrac subject being discussed here in this discussion).

All of this seems to confirm the 'niche' application for fracturing with gas to me.

Just my interpretation thus far.
