EQT corp. is very close to using a forced air fracing system with no chemicals,Josh Fox failed to mention that,technology is moving forward,I would look to the future not what happend in the past.

why cant we wait until they are using forced air, and not very close to it. Then pounce. then the property will be more sought after no? Technology changes every second of every day. We know this. He was trying to prove a point that what was and is going on definatly isnt good. Look at cell phones and computers, theyre outdated as soon as theyre released. competitive balance, make something better and faster and more efficient, and usually logic suggests people want it.

I agree with Guillermo Marconi. Guillermo, your thoughts from what I have read here seem to fall on some with deaf ears. Now I'm not attempting to create any controversy or arguements or whatever... I believe progress and nature can and must work in conjunction with one another in order for us (inhabitants of the Earth) to survive. We are not going to stop this drilling and we must work with the activity and the industry.

Respectfully to Beth Hamm:

You state in your OPENING statement, "If this show is the show about how it really is for Gas Drilling, I refuse to even look at any of that..." [because it seems like such a far out view of reality]

Then my question is, how can you post a comment intelligently about the activities which Josh Fox illustrates within his film? Thats like someone saying it's raining outside and they haven't even gone out yet (or looked out the window).

You continue: "it will definately be a change in life "anf" the area for some time to come but I am sure it will all work out to the good of the COUNTRY."

How can you be sure it will all just "work out"? These Oil and Nat. Gas companies as of this date (6/2010) are exempt from the laws that would make it possible to have the companies, their activities and the chemicals they use to be regulated. Without regulation, we don't have any real idea what this type of material is doing to or for the environment.

I worked firsthand in the Pavillion Field which was one location where Josh Fox was interviewing and filming where H2S gas was released into the air and saw firsthand how just breathing the air put men in the hospital for 6 months. The engineers still didn't know how exactly the field became "spoiled" ... same situation happened in the fields in Utah.

I believe when Josh Fox is interviewing the folks in Pavillion about their problems with the "venting" of the wells and how it's affecting the folks, he's right on.


Again, I'm not picking on anyone or anything but I can see where Josh Fox is making a film and also stating some facts and I think that people should take notice and view it with an open mind and then make a judgement.

My only real question seems to be why we must sacrifice the environment for the economy? Even if you own land or don't, the "Big Man" isn't making any more of it that I can see, so that means that we all should have a sense of protecting it like we would our own children.... I would think.

Range Ecology, Vegetation Monitoring and Environmental Restoration contractor specifically working for the Oil and Natural Gas Industry throughout Wyoming, Utah and parts of Colorado.

By the way Scott, I'm not stating that your opinion is incorrect in your statements, I'm just putting a point out there about that specific situation within the H2S areas. I don't think that the Oil and Natural Gas Companies are evil nor am I trying to imply that in any way. In fact some companies I have had the experience working with were actually (in my opinion) revolutionary leaders in how they took on environmental conservation and restoration.

Michael, I see your point. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) can be created by a number of ways. It’s naturally occurring in natural gas and can be produced by bacterial breakdown of organic materials, to include human and animal wastes (e.g., sewage, pig farms, waste water treatment plants, wetlands, cattle farms, etc.). It is heavier than air and may travel along the ground. The variables why it is in such high concentrations in a giving area can be difficult to determine. As you stated “The engineers still didn't know how exactly the field became "spoiled" ... same situation happened in the fields in Utah.” The term that is used I believe is “sour gas”.

when you posted this, they already were doing it....it's just kept quiet like any other business secret.  and as of today, it's doable.  now the question is, what sort of presure to use?

funny... now they do.  It's corn based but the data is only seen in trade papers.
