Gulfport believes the Utica Shale to have between 1.3 and 5 billion barrels of recoverable oil. Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing has unlocked this play.Gulfport sees its Point Pleasant Utica acreage as similar to the Eagle Ford in South Texas, and they aren't the only ones making this comparison. Carrizo (CRZO), whose biggest assets are in the Eagle Ford but was acquiring Utica acreage last year, believes the Internal Rate of Returnand Estimated Ultimate Recovery there will rival its Eagle Ford acreage.

The article talks alot about the fact that GPOR has better acerage (vs CHK), which i agree with.....but i also think GPOR is better at extracting more of the available hydrocarbons out of the shale.....they certainly seem to be using/testing different methodologies in the fracking/completion techniques.......more sand, more water, tighter spacing etc. - which sounds similar to what "the best player" is doing in other plays.
This is all great news. However when will the lessor receive their royalty. Only two lessors have confirmed receipt of a royalty check. The MWCD and the Boy Scouts of America...that's it! How can these wells be online for so long and trucks constantly hauling from the pads and still not pay the actual mineral owner. That is a lot of dollars being held by someone, surely it would not be in a interest bearing account. Have the working interest folks or the ORRI folk been paid?
hey mark what kind of royalty checks they getting
