I live in Jackson Twp., Venango Co., and am wandering if anyone in Crawford Co. has been contacted by Range Resources in regards to leasing with them.  We had a call a couple of days ago from them and it appears that they are interested in our 10 acre property to put together a drilling unit.  They now have a permit for a (test) well less than a mile from our property.   I'm trying to get a feel for what they are offering now just as a starting point when they call back.

Sam is absolutely right. No matter how much acreage you have and how many wells the drilling company is going to have on the purposed location on your property. It is very crucial to read everything on the lease agreement between you and the company that has written it up. If you do not necessarily agree with certain aspects of it, or want something changed. Simply ask. That's one of the many functioning things on a lease agreement and the land men who represent the company will most likely work with you. Let's be honest here. There's a reason why they are wanting to drill on your land from the beginning. Whatever the agreement stands on. You always have the option of discussing it with your lawyer and other individuals before the pen meets the paper. Do your research and see what other landowners in your area with the same drilling play are getting or have agreed on. See about being able to be involved from the beginning to end. Even if that means standing on the sidelines. Reason for saying that is to ensure that all your requests are being honored. Sometimes very rare, drilling companies and or affiliates will not do certain things that they agreed on. For most part think you'll be fine. Every company that's comming here would like to remain here and keep business and operating without criticism for many years to come. Remember to read into everything from beginning to end.
