Is there any action with the Marcellus Shale in Jefferson County, PA

Received a request for seismic testing, but that's it.  Has anyone signed a lease here?

         This is a good site to look at for local activity: http://www.marcellusgas.org

If you go to this site and type in the County (Jefferson), you will see flagged (on a map) the wells that are producing, wells that are drilling and wells that are permitted.

This site provides a lot of information, for free.

Additional information is available if you subscribe (but not much additional information seems to currently be available for Jefferson County).

 

Looking at the above referenced map, there seem to be two linear trends of Marcellus activity crossing Jefferson County:

One trend goes from near Brockway (at the NE) to near Knoxdale (at the SW), this trend passes by the southern end of Warsaw Township (good news for you). I would think that there is (or soon will be) a lot of industry interest in your area.

 

The second trend goes from near Sykeville, through the Big Run area to SW of Punxsutawney.

Who is drilling in SE Jefferson County?  What are the prospects for the Big Run-Punxy-Trade City area?

Mike...how would you rate the SE Jefferson County area from Big Run thru SW of Punxy?  Great, good or just OK.....how about northern Indiana County, too?

Mike: I'm beginning to think wherever you find Marcellus and/or Utica formations there is lots of gas.

Is this a fair assessment?

If not , can you identify any "no gas" zones?

Is SE/SW Jefferson County considered as a great, good, just ok or not a prospect for Utica Shale Gas?  Any test wells in the area?

Utica is very deep in JC.  Probably won't be drilled for some time as it would be much more expensive to go after and would be a huge money loser at today's prices.   Nowhere near enough wells drilled to say Good/Great/Just OK.

Completely shooting from the hip? A sustained $8 or $9.   Companies will pick the low hanging fruit first (Marcellus, Upper Devonian).

Thanks Mike...looking forward to the easy fruit pickin`s sooner then later!   Is there any significant difference between Utica vs Marcellus gas other then the wet vs dry regional factors?  Is Utica gas injected into the same transmission lines as is Marcellus witout any additional processing?   Anyone observing the drilling activity in the Big Run area by CNX Gas?
