Is there any interest from the energy companies in the Utica formation in Erie County,PA?

From reviewing this site and reading many of the other energy company press releases there seems to be alot of interest in crawford county to the south and ashtabula county OH to the west of Erie County.  I have not found much interest so far in Erie County for the Utica.  From the maps I have seen it looks like it is about 5000-6000ft depth with a thickness of 250 ft.  Enervest has been drilling the vertical wells for the knox (beekmantown/rose run) formation and has been actively leasing but no interest in the Utica.  It looks like Range Resources is very interested in crawford and has alot of acreage leased.  Does anyone know if they finished the first utica well in crawford county?

Hi Doug, FYI, I have acreage in western Erie Co that is unleased. I live out of state and try to keep up with what's going on but like you, it appears there's not much happening in Erie, at least to my knowledge. I have not been contacted by anyone. I just assume when the time comes the land men will find us landowners. I would like to see an Erie Co discussion group get started so we can share information. Good to hear from someone with interest in Erie Co.
