Does a well's laterals use the same vertical casing to the well head?

Does a Marcellus well's laterals use the same vertical casing to the well head? You really cant tell by a video.

so 4 laterals will have 4 vertical bores to the surface ?

That is correct. Each well will have it's own vertical component, with a presence at the surface to allow for completion of each well individually.

It is an engineering marvel, with all the surface wellbore locations on a pad generally less than 50' apart, yet the horizontal leg of the wells will be spaced some 600-1000' apart at the target formation depth.
