Lined ponds

I know I'm probably behind the news here but I have not been able to find the info I'm looking for by searching so here goes.

Chesapeake has built a pond lined with black plastic very close to my home.   It was empty as of yesterday.  There are 2 wells not fracked within a mile of the dry pond.   Is this to become a storage for fracking water?   Is it to be storage before or after if so.  

My concern is when it is to be used.  Before or after fracking?   or both?   

There is really not a space big enough for a well, however there is a white board at the road like they put at wells.

Any help here?

They may plan on using the ponds to hold water to use in fracking instead of hauling in RINO water storage trailers to hold the frack water to be used. You would be seeing a increase in traffic of the RINOs being hauled in if they are going to use them as storage.

Lined ponds are made and used for holding water needed for fracking.   Pipe will be laid to several wells sometimes for quite some distance in order to provide water for multiple sites.   This comes from a relative working sites in PA.  Where are you located and where is this pond?

Your question has been answered, but I wanted to reiterate this is an impoundment for FRESH water.  They will store fresh water until it is needed for fracing operations, at which point it will be hauled or piped to the site where it will be blended.

While I'm not 100% certain for OH, in PA all the open pits for flowback have been done away with - anytime you see exposed water its fresh.  No reason operators won't be doing the same thing in OH.

Thank you all so much for the information.   I am in Carroll County Ohio, perry township.   I am very relieved to hear that this is for fresh water.   

As of today the white board is blank.    

Is the water turned over fast enough to prevent mosquitoes?
