Obviously, the State of New York is happy in its role of being takers in our energy reality and possess little to no will to do the work needed to place a sound regulatory structure in place...kinda odd..New York passing up an opportunity to regulate...

Now companies can move forward in developing PA, WV and OH with confidence that there is little hope in NY. Congrats PA, you are well enroute to enjoying the same benefits as TX, LA, ND and AR. Last time I checked the citizens of those states weren't growing three heads due to fracking. And New York, well you can go back to taxing your citizens out of prosperity...I guess you never actually stopped.

"The New York State Senate overwhelmingly voted to impose a moratorium on shale gas drilling yesterday.... The Thompson/Sweeney bill (S.8129B), which would place a moratorium on granting new drilling permits until May 2011, has bipartisan support, but the leadership of both the Senate and Assembly have stalled in bringing the legislation to a vote. Up until a few days ago, it was considered all but dead. Yesterday, however, the legislature convened for a rare summer session, and the Senate voted by an overwhelming margin – 48 to 9- to approve Thompson/Sweeney. The bill goes next to the state Assembly, where it also has bipartisan support. However, it is unclear if the Assembly will vote on it during this special session."

I spoke with a woman who owned a 80 acre farm in NY state. They were preparing to drill a well on her farm but it was blocked, thanks to the politicians up there that line their pockets. She can no longer afford her 10 plus thousand dollar property taxes. She is not the only one up there struggling to keep their farms. Im sure their taxes will be going up since NY state is bankrupt. Pretty soon they wont be able to give their farms away because the taxes will be higher then their mortgages. Thank God I live in PA.
