New Utica well

I'm am really concerned because they are putting up a well very near to my house. I've followed advise and went to recorders office and they can help me. How do I find out
If I'm in production unit. I called the leasing company that's drilling..also the one I'm signed on with and they said their 99% sure so why aren't I getting any papers that I'm in the unit. Feel like the gas company is hiding something and will try to suck gas out of my property and not pay me. What should I do.

Hi Pat,

You are doing everything right, it just may be too early for you to find out on your own.
One suggestion is to call the driller again since like any other customer service center, some workers know their job better then others.
If you are in this unit it could be a year or more before anyone officially tells you.
The pad could be done, wells drilled, pipes connected and you still may not be told.
Did you have your water tested? That's a big clue but doesn't always hold true. A lot of water tests name the pad on it, too.
A good way to start when the pad is going in, is to drive up to the white board and look up the well name. You can by pass this step and find out the landowners name and look for their last name as the well name to see if something has been permitted on the ODNR. I'm assuming you're in ohio right now, due to lack of info.
The ODNR will only show the names of the mineral owners in that well leg, not the full unit. The full unit will be in the courthouse in time and sent to all mineral owners even later in time.
Another way to try and find info is to look up the property owners name in the court house. See what has been put on their deed. They may have a tiny bit of info stating they signed for a pad to be placed on their land. You may also see more info on their deed, showing a declared pooled unit. If you do but there isn't one on yours then as of that moment you are not in the unit. If that happens, don't worry, look at the owners and see which way the unit is running. If its running away from you, remember in time they could make another unit in the other direction, off that pad to catch you.
Each piece of information gets you closer to finding out if you are in a unit.
