ODNR Division of Geological Survey has released the much anticipated Utica "HOT SPOT" maps for Ohio.

Central Ohio looks HOT,HOT, HOT with S2 values.  Far exceeding eastern Ohio.

Then you have to scroll down the page until you come to the Utica Shale Files For Download entries and click on the entries with the date 'Updated 11/23/2012' at the end (in red).

Those will open maps that have now been updated from those contained in the last report dated 3/27/2012.

Or you can click on them here

They are presently coming through southern Muskingum/ northern Perry counties doing seismic testing for Artex.Probably be coming across our farm in a week or so. The Precision Geophysical Inc. man said they were working from north to south down through the state. Not sure if Artex sells/gives the results to other co's or the state to further map progress. This is mostly new to me, so excuse my ignorance on the matter. :)

Looking a little closer at the difference between the (S1) ODNR Preliminary Map issued back in March 2012 and the newly issued (S1) ODNR map.

Seeing the 'very good' pink color overtaken by the yellowish 'good' color in the land between Andover / Pymatuning, Jefferson, and Orwell.

Also noting not too many reference points for test wells in that triangulated area.

Thinking that might change pending more exploratory test wells.

What do others think about that ?

You can request an ODNR speaker for the updated Utica maps through the ODNR Communications department. Please talk to Heidi Hetzel-Evans at 614-265-6520 or Hedi.hetzel-evans@dnr.state.oh.us

Thx a lot

Thank you for the information Jim Neuenschwander.

I gave them a call asking to speak to Heidi regarding these maps and interpretations and as to whether or not there would be future iterations / updates.

They tell me Heidi primarily speaks to media but I could expect a call back from her or a person by the name of Josclyn (spelling?).

Looks like well number 21260 when you zoom in until the number appears.  Pull up the well card and the complete number reads 34083212600000.  This is the well with the blue dot.  You need to click on the core holding square to locate the blue dot.  The blue dot is not at the same location as the S1/S2 maps, I believe this is where their information may come from.
