old cabot leases bought by range

does anyone know if the old leases that cabot wrote were wrote to the center of the earth? I have friends telling me that a lot of those leases only went down to the shallow gas? anyone have a opinion? thanks

You have to read the leases. Many are different depending on what lawyer advised the landowner.  Some have specific depths.  Others limit depths by formation(s). If neither of these are spelled out and there is no reference to depths or strata limitations then the lease is considered to the center of the earth.
