Natural Gas development offers the only reasonable prospect of a real economic revival for Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. Can we even imagine the amount of economic harm that would flow to the area from a fracking moratorium?
Permalink Reply by randall gottus on July 17, 2013 at 4:49am Sam...yes, economic revival?..but I am hearing yhat there is no goal for us to be energy independent. The gas taken from our land is going over seas since the gas companies can get more money for it, thus creating price competion globally, and eventually raising the cost of energy here. There is even one gas company that has asked the PUC for a rate increase to help pay for the new pipe lines needed for this.(article in Butler Eagle-6/19/13) The only winners here are us landowners, for awhile, assuming that there is no long term envirnomental damage to our land that we will be eventually be responsible for, despite all those well-manicured addendums we all have. I hope I am wrong, and that the gas companies support us land owners and our country s goal of energy independence. I also hope that corbett will stop letting the gas companies make and change the rules as they did last week.
