Has anyone had any discussions where the pipeline companies are requesting to purchase the property they originally wanted for an easement rather than just purchasing an easement?

Interesting.

Would their intent be to purchase the entire property (as opposed to a swath "x" feet wide)?

Is it possible that they have determined that they want additional real estate for such things as:

Compressor Station, pig launchers, pipe yard, or other significant appurtenances?

Whatever their intent, you can expect that they are doing it because they consider it to be in their best interests.

And, obviously, if you can determine their exact ulyimate intent - you might be able to assure that you receive appropriate compensation.

All IMHO,

Hi, Jack.

We have a meeting set up to discuss further but from what I understood, they would purchase the easement not the entire property.  They say what we are looking for compensation wise is much greater than they've ever paid.  However, I got my info on what a fair offer is from this web site.  I know people in our immediate area are basically signing for whatever the pipeline people are saying is a "good" offer.  We don't feel like we're asking for a lot & certainly don't expect to retire based on the pipeline but we want what is fair.  We've already said we don't want compressor stations, pig launchers, etc. here.  Thanks for your response!
