We received a letter from TGS wanting to do seismic testing for the Freeport 3D South Seismic Project. We have read a variety of postings on the subject on GMS and other sources, and overall we are comfortable having the testing performed - with the exception of possible effects the charges could have on the fish in our lake.
The generic location of the charges on the plat map they included has charges on each side of the lake, along with one in the lake itself (which I would doubt they would actually place). One charge location is approximately 60 feet from the waters edge and another is approximately 180 feet away. The lake is approximately five acres in size, includes shallow and moderately deep areas (35'+), was created many years ago during strip mine operations (no dam), has a variety of fish and a small family of beaver.
Has anyone else had seismic testing done near a pond or lake? Fish can be somewhat sensitive to certain things and I would prefer not to cause any harm or damage. Any input would be appreciated.
