I am new to this sight but it seems informative. I think I may have posted in the wrong area befor. Thanks in advance for any replies.

I have heard that many land owners are now selling water to drilling/frac companies. I was wondering if anyone on here has done that and what it entails. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your responses.

To date I have not found anyone to lease the property.

In act, I do have ALOT to say about this subject,
Having responded to a post requesting water in an online forum...EXACTLY like this one!
1) don't go with the middleman, go to the source.
I will tell you in detail, about my experience, even though a middleman requesting water on this very site has threatened me with legal action, if I even so much as tell the truth about what happened to me.
My story will include details, contract issues, how you could be f*cked over, and more.
I will post it as its own topic, soon.

Thanks for your reply Shon. I would very much appreciate any info you could provide, good and bad. If its more convenient I can message you my email. Tks again.

Have you been approached by a water co?

No, I have not.

We have property that has several water sources on it and was wondering if anyone had sold water or been approached about selling. To be honest just didn't know if it was financially appealing enough to pursue a way to market it.

Here are some considerations:
Is it on a State Route, or other road?
How close is it to drilling activity?
Is it easy to access?
Will taking water impact anyone else's use, if there is any one else involved with the body of water?
How accessible is it to freeways?

I'm in Ohio County WV. We are situated perfectly for St RT and highway access(less than 2miles). Easily access to the supply

Shon, do you have an idea what companies are paying? I've heard everything from practically nothing to .10&.12/gal

It varies.....
Generally, it is sold in 1000 gallon lots.
Price of raw unfiltered water; $4-6 per 1000 gal.
Price for clean water.........maybe $9-12 per 1000
Also, a 'barrel' (bbl) is 42 gallons.
Many water trucks, hold 100 bbl.
Buckeye water service co, n New Concord, Oh,...Fred..
Told me that "there are a lot of 'games' being played with the price of water recently....
Do not confuse the excellent company above, with newer companies that advertise for water on this site.I personally have had to deal with some of them
in my opinion, the experience was absolutely awful.
My wallet absolutely agrees.
I will detail my personal experience, the truth, for which this other company has threatened to sue me, if I divulge my story...they are afraid of their own business tactics being told, apparently.

Lets just say, for me personally, it cost a lot of money and was devastating.

State of Ohio ODNR selling H2O for 6 to 8/1000 gal.

.10 is very high, around here it's more like 0.005 to 0.01
