In response to the writer about unwanted checks. I own land in New York on which the lease has expired. Chesapeake presently holds the "expired" lease. They have sent me renewal checks three different times. Each time I have returned their check along with a letter from my attorney requesting a Surrender Of Lease. The one response we recieved back from their legal dept. was a long article on their claim of "force majure". According to our attorney their claim is invalid and we are due a Surrender letter. After three unwanted checks recieved and returned along with three letters to CHK from our attorney,we have not recieved the surrender letter or a good explanation why not. Their courtesy really makes a person want to deal with them in the future!
