Ritchie County please
Nancy,

Do you know of any leasing in Ritchie Co. by any of the Marcellus players (Chesapeake, Range Resources, etc.)?
No I don't. My family has several parcels of OGM rights in the county, with some old leases. Virco is drilling a horizontal well on one property (where there are others). They said they were mainly looking for oil. I'm trying to find out what is happening in the county. From maps I have seen, there is some Marcellus deposit there, not as valuable as places to the north and east.
Well, I'm no expert, but I'm not so sure. I have been approached by a landman, and some other shareholders in my family have signed for $100/acre for 5 years, but they didn't even read the contract to determine what their royalty would be if a producing well is established.

I haven't been able to locate any resources concerning seismic surveys, or other projections here in Tyler, and would be interested in seeing the maps that you mentioned. One of Chesapeake's wells in neighboring Wetzel county is bringing in over 3 million cubic feet per day (estimated). If anything like that is indicated in our counties, you know that information would likely be suppressed.

We would be wise not to get our hopes too high, but we would be wiser to educate ourselves. I am attaching an article by the Associated Press, found on the WVONGA website, that is pertinent to our situation.

I'm skeptical about the horizontal "oil" well. Do you happen to know the depth? That might be an indicator of the true objective. Maybe our resident expert Keith can help shed some light on that one for us.

The API permit # is 47-085-09836
I could not find any depth information. I was told they just finished drilling about a week or so ago so probably not in the database yet. This was on an old lease that had to be modified for horizontal drilling and pooling.
Here are some websites I have found with WV Marcellus information:

Thanks, good article.
How about Nicholas county I own 60 acers and have an offer of 250/ 12.5 / 5 years.
i am new to this and own 180 acres surface and minerals in nicholas county just curious who it is thanks for any info k.c.
The company is Holland Aqcuisions the land man says he doesn't know much about the drilling part of it. Triana is the closest drilling company to me. Iam in Kentucky destrict
I hear that 12.5% is the state minimum a company can offer an owner. 5 years seems standard from what I've researched and $250 is probably low.
I've been contacted regarding a lease in Monongalia county in West Virginia. Just trying to get and share information to generate the best deal possible.
