WEST VIRGINIA MINERAL OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT THEIR LEGISLATORS ABOUT REVISED FORCED POOLING BILL

THE REVISED FORCED POOLING LEGISLATION CONTAINED IN THE WEST VIRGINIA LEGISLATURE'S HB2878 STOPS FAR SHORT OF LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD FOR  MINERAL OWNERS.  MINERAL OWNER'S ARE STILL ON THE HOOK FOR PAYING PRODUCTION COSTS, THE BONUS MONEY AND ROYALTY ARE LEFT TO THE WHIM OF A COMMISSION WHICH DOES NOT CONTAIN A MEMBER THAT REPRESENTS THE MINERAL OWNERS, AND THERE IS NO PROVISION FOR INDEMNIFYING MINERAL OWNERS FROM THE ACTS OF THE OPERATOR IN THE EVENT OF POLLTUTION, ETC. IF YOU'RE UNHAPPY WITH THE REVISED LEGISLATION, CALL AND REGISTER YOUR OPPOSITION TO THE FORCED POOLING PROVISION IN HB2878:

As reported to me by 29041431;

Just a little after 8:00 P.M. this evening, on an amendment sponsored by all fourteen (14) members of the House Judiciary subcommittee, the Forced Pooling Provision was removed from HB2878 in its entirety with the exception of the Surface Owners provision on pages 206 and 207. Other amendments were added and the bill was passed on to the full Judiciary Committee for passage. So for now, Forced Pooling appears to be gone.
