A bad article.

Bad publicity.

Not even mentioning Ashtabula County by name (we happen to be the northeastern most county in our State).

As I have it, our Utica Point Pleasant is deep (4000'-5000') below the surface.

As I have it, our Utica Point Pleasant is thick (300'-350').

They qualify their article by saying more data is needed (wells and core drill data points) before they know for sure, but, then it would be better to not say anything - except drill the wells and get the data !

This article doesn't help our county generate interest in developing our Utica Gas and Oil deposits at all.

As always, all also in my humble opinion (IMHO).

What do you folks think ?

The test wells to be drill this summer and the drilling in PA near the Pymatuning reservoir will be the true test. But our arrow is heading down at this point   Good thing i didn't give up my day job.

We have been and remain only guardedly optimistic Dan.

We feel 'guardedly optimistic' due to a couple of maps we've seen which you've probably seen as well.  They are a map created by EnerVest a while ago and another more recent map created by Halcon showing their so-called 'Utica Northern Sweetspot'.  Did you see them ?  Both of these maps indicated similar characteristics as far as Ashtabula County is concerned.  They both showed the underlying Utica strata curving in an arc from the Southwest to the Northeast.  There was a Volatile Light Oil / Rich Condensate boundary line cutting across the Pymatuning Causeway on a Southwest to Northeast bearing; with Oil  / Black Oil to the West and Volatile Light Oil / Rich Condensate to the East.

The Halcon map also indicated their 'Target Area' which in Ashtabula County followed much the same bearing cutting across 11, SR 6, 193, CR 147, CR 12, CR 302 and 7.  

Maybe we've been grabbing at straws but, since there aren't any deep wells or cores to base things on in our neck of the woods; when they finally get around to drilling them we're hoping they'll prove Volatile Light Oil / Rich Condensate.

So we're looking forward to seeing some good results from more Core Samples and those wells you mention above.

Let's all keep the faith and hope for the best !

 

oh well.. a lot of contradictory info going around right now that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. i guess we all resort to plan b
