With limited data for comparison a quick check of the records on the White 529 Oil well as well as the just released Cimarex Sylvia Young #1 Completion Data, the Gas/Oil ratio in the two wells are exactly the same 50/50 on a BOE basis for both vertical wells.
The White 529 had higher initial production by a factor of almost 200% from a sand in the lowermost Maryville Limestone (just above the top of Rogersville) but the settled production in 1972 was exactly a 50/50 split.
Given that the Cimarex Young well was tested in the less permeable shale one would expect a lower initial flow but the type and mix of hydrocarbons should be very similar given the minor differences in depth, and that is exactly what the data is telling us.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
