Center Twp But;er co. is voting on an ordiance Dec 8 that will basically stop all drilling

Lead by people who don't own oil and gas rights and, the anti-frackers. Center Twp is set to pass an ordinance Dec 8 that will essentially stop anyone from drilling for their gas. Read the ordinance and look at the overlay map.
This is their favorite wording to justify (

the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Section 601, grants authority to

Center Township to enact zoning ordinances that protect and promote the health,

safety, morals, and the general welfare of its residents)

Just a few things in the ordinance (

B. The Zoning Officer shall be responsible for determining whether a

property or a portion thereof proposed for development or improvement

is within the applicable zoning districts or zoning overlay districts and

what measures must be taken to meet the requirements of this Article.

Any grading or filling of land even though no well head or mining is

contemplated shall require a permit.)

What's up with that? Wait till you see the set backs.(

a. Wellheads, vent flames, and ventilation openings shall be set back a

minimum of two hundred fifty feet (250') from all adjacent property lines

and street right of ways.

b. Wellheads, vent flames, and ventilation openings shall be set back a

minimum of one thousand feet (1000') from an existing dwelling, school

or church.)

Boy that sure cuts down on were you can drill!

Another favorite is (at the discretion of) I can't tell for sure but, I think you have to subdivide 30 acres where you want to drill which takes months of paper work making that acreage conditional use meaning you can't do anything with it except farm it.
