We were approached about a month ago by an independent landman who was leasing for Rex. He said the were interest in the Utica not Marcellus and got very defensive when I started asking about depths. He was very set that they only were offering $2000/12.5 an acre and when I told him I'd have to discuss with an attorney he threatened our offer would be lowered if we took it to legal. Anyone else deal with these guys in the area or have the name of a good landman?

Forgot to add that after all my questions and his insistance that it was a good offer and lease (crap) that he told us we only had a week to decide.

Tell him to get lost!! When Rex is ready to sign you they will probably use Western Land Services to talk to you. There is never a hurry or deadline for you to sign a legit offer. Always go to a lawyer at the end before you sigh anything. A few months back Rex was offering 16% and $3200.00 in your area. I agree with LewPA.
You should always check with Rex to determine if the person/company you are talking to is actually representing Rex.

...just read that Rex has signed a 20 year agreement with Dominion to use their pipe lines to transport gas to the mid west and the Gulf coast from various places in (mid&northern) Butler county. This may be the kind of news that we have been all waiting for. This might be why Rex has been trying to get Shell's leases, and also why Shell might re think Butler county.(although Shell is having massive structural problems) And yes, as stated above, they want the Utica.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
