Shipley rig taken down today
Saw a sign on Rt 68 near Connoquenessing School a day ago, said "Rig Move in Progress" or somesuch... Today I drove by the Shipley pad and the rig is down. There was supposed to be 3 wells on the pad, I'm surprised they could have finished drilling so quickly.
I assume they are moving it elsewhere, lots of cranes and big trucks at the site now. Do they use the rig to frack and flare?
I also passed three large water trucks two days ago on Reibold Rd at the bottom of the hill... No idea where they came from or going to, it's a steep road for the size of those trucks.

They have to de-rig to move to the next step which is the completions (fracking) stage. A skilled operator can drill out 3 wells, (inlcuding the vertical, and horizontal) in about a month or two. After completions they will tie the producing wells into the pipeline which is a project that is currently going on if not already done. Usually if the pipe is ready or will be ready they will move to the completions stage if its not, the pad will sit until pipe can catch up to it before doing the completions, they time each of these stages very well so there is little lag time so the gas can go to market as soon as possible.

The rig is being moved somewhere off of Old 68 - you can see the signs at the end of Old 68 closer to Evans City.
The drilling rig is not used for completions (fracing) of wells. There is a whole different crew of people and equipment that comes in. With the pipeline that is going in all over, I would assume it will be tied into that sooner or later.
There is a water source back Reibold Road somewhere that industry is using.
