Swepi recently applied for a new well permit in Center Twp. I found this pdf on the township website, and there is some detailed information on the permit & location of the well for anyone interested.

Oliver,

thanks for all the posts.  Is the Renick well only 72 acres?

Cheliped,

I would assume the 72 acres is the parcel the well will be located on, but I'm not sure. This well is very early in the permitting process.

Did you happen to see that google earth plat map that someone made, i think, it was bradford county.  It was really cool.  Have you seen one like that for Butler county?

I have seen that map, and the number of units there is unreal. The person that made that map spent a great deal of time doing it, probably hundreds of hours, and he updates it every week or so. He provides a great service to those in Bradford County.

I'm sure no map like that exists for Butler County, and while I have the time, I don't have the skills needed to create one.

I took a second look at the Renick permit, and it states this is a vertical well under the heading "configuration". But it is targeted to the Marcellus, so I don't know if this is a test well or what, but I see on the last page under number of laterals - 1.

I think you can do it.

Thanks for the encouragement, but I will pass on that.

I just noticed the permit # 3468-1X. I have never seen this X designation before, could it mean experimental? I don't know, but will attempt to find out. I copied the following from the DEP instructions for filling out a well permit.

CONFIGURATION

Check the major manner of how the wellbore(s) applied for under this application will be constructed. If there is a vertical pilot component of the well but the pilot is primarily to build the horizontal portion of the well, check horizontal. If the application is only for a vertical wellbore check vertical. If the wellbore is intended to be deviated from vertical by more than 3 degrees, check deviated. If there will be multiple wellbores/laterals drilled horizontally check both horizontal and multiple laterals checkboxes.

Thanks for the posts.. Would love to see Center Twp take off

Shell just applied for permits for  6 Horizontal wells on the Renick site.  I was by the proposed site last Tuesday and there was still only one flag marking the area.

Does any one know if Shell sends a survey team in to mark out the pad and erosion control areas before the dirt moving crews arrive?

I know Chevron sites has hundreds of Flags before any crews ever show up, sometimes up to 6 months before the pad building crews arrive.
