It may be a top hole or conductor rig. I haven't been able to go slow enough past it to see. I always seem to have someone riding my bumper.

I drive on 68 everyday. I did not notice this "item" on the well pad down more on 68 on the farm,unless it could not be seen from the road?

I haven't seen the pad, but Buggs is probably right. They drill vertically with a smaller rig, then later, sometimes much later, bring in the big rig to drill horizontally.

It's the Michael well pad. Drove by it many times before I noticed it (thought it was a pipeline crossing, didn't realize there was a well there too). I believe there are 7 wells in 3 layers...  Marcellus, Burkett and Rhinestreet. Not sure if this type uses a different drill or multiple drills.

They do have a sign up, and moved the guard shack from the Shipley well just down rt 68.

It doesn't matter the formation, if it is a top hole rig they will drill vertically before the big rig comes in. I looked Yost up on the internet and it appears that this may be one of their normal rigs however I find it hard to believe they would use such a small rig to drill all of those formations horizontally. Their website is under construction and not a lot of info on their Facebook page regarding rigs.

I noticed yesterday that the little rig is gone. With the length of time that it was on location, I think it is safe to assume that it was the top hole rig and that they will be moving a big rig in shortly to complete the horizontals. I would love to see a triple over there, would stand tall above the trees.

They will definitely bring in a triple to drill those wells... I agree, it should look cool. Too bad that's such a busy road.

And the way they have the pad tucked in there it is hard to see what is going on no matter which direction you are traveling. I'm past it twice a day to/from work and of course during the busy times of the day.
