We have been approached by AEP about an easement for a power line. Does anyone have any information they could share on their experiences with AEP, what types of financial compenstation they are offering for the easement and for damage to crops?

Best bet is to contact your Farm Bureau for guidance. You will get compensation for lost crops. Also and foremost about an easement. They are FOREVER unlike a lease agreement that has some kind of ending. Also be sure that the easement is for the original power line only. Do not let the easement be open ended as to what else can be placed on the easement such as:
other power lines
optic cables
pipelines of any kind
Those added items to the easement are things that you should be additionally compensated for when they happen.
Hope this helps a little
