Update: Looks like some kind of Fracking operations at the well site. A crane was holding a device with three legs above the well head and there was a large pipe connected to the device.

update: FLARING ?

I saw a orange flame from the Flare Stack Tuesday night but it was really wimpy.

I am not sure if that was a FLARE or just burning off excess gas.

Utica, looks like they hope to bring the Brace on line later this month sometime:

"Meanwhile, Rex plans to turn its first Ohio Utica shale well to sales in September 2012. The Brace-1H, in Carroll County, went to 12,332 ft measured depth including a 4,170-ft lateral. It has been shut-in since fracture stimulation in June 2012".

Drove by this well last night and I noticed the small flame on the flare stack, again!

What is the purpose of this small amount of flaring ?

Getting more flow testing in before production officially begins?  Not sure.  The numbers for Brace were pretty good, so I'm not sure why they're flaring again.

Marcus,

The flame last night and on the night of Sept 5th was way below "normal". It was not roaring like a normal flare. It was almost weak enough that a strong wind could blow it out. It was very strange indeed. I was told there was a State Law that prohibited flaring for more than 24 hours. Is that True or False? I cannot find anything stating any time limit for an O&G flare.\

Rex Energy Announces Results of First Ohio Utica Shale Well, Provides Operational Update and Upcoming Conference Schedule

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Sept. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Rex Energy Corporation (Nasdaq:REXX) today announced initial production results from its first Ohio Utica Shale well and provided an update on its operations.

The Brace #1H, located in Carroll County, Ohio, was brought online to sales from its 60-day resting period at a 24-hour sales rate, assuming full ethane recovery, of 1,094 Boe/d (43% NGLs, 31% gas, 26% condensate). The well went on to average a 5-day sales rate, assuming full ethane recovery, of 1,008 Boe/d (43% NGLs, 30% gas, 27% condensate). The well produced with an average casing pressure of 1,502 psi during the initial 24-hour sales period and 1,533 psi during the average 5-day sales period on a 24/64 inch choke. The well was drilled to a total measured depth of 12,332 feet with a lateral length of approximately 4,170 feet and was completed in 17 stages. Based on composition analysis, the oil from the Brace #1H is 60.1 degree API gravity and the gas is approximately 1,250 BTU.

Brace #1H Results (Boe/d)
Natural Gas Condensate NGLs Total (Full Ethane Recovery) Percentage of Liquids (Full Ethane Recovery) Total (Ethane Rejection Mode)
24-hour sales rate 336 291 467 1,094 69% 911
5-day sales rate 306 273 429 1,008 70% 839

"We are pleased with the results of our first Ohio Utica Shale well, the Brace #1H," commented Tom Stabley, Rex Energy's Chief Executive Officer. "We believe that the initial sales from the well on a per lateral foot basis are among the best results in Carroll County to date."

Brian H,

This is good news for landowners in NE Carroll County.

The Brace well is WET which means higher Royalties for landowners ...

30% is low value Dry Gas

70% is higher value NGL & Condensate

Brian, Just so you know and if you want to read more info on this,  there was a nice discussion about the Brace results in the general forum titled Brace-1h: http://gomarcellusshale.com/forum/topics/brace-1h

Yes, results are great and wet! Thanks!
