Always make sure to look closely at any lease you plan to sign. In fact, look for a good, well-versed oil and gas attorney to read over it for you, and explain "legalese" type clauses to you. If you can, find someone who understands the nuances of Marcellus leases vs. more conventional leases.

Remember, do your homework on the company you decide to lease with, and understand their operational practices. Use the Internet (but be careful -- lots of misinformation out there), ask neighbors, -- even considering asking your landman for the names of a few others leasing to his company that you can talk to.
