This is an elected position - correct?

It certainly is.   Yesterday in our paperbox we received a 3x7 card entitled "Gas Leasing Tips for Landowners".  It goes over things you should consider before signing etc.  Has a section on FAQs and contact numbers etc and Mr. Brown's pic.  

And here is my favorite part - under his pic:

"Columbiana County Recorder Craig Brown is considered an authority on gas leasing and county recording"  He has been interviewed by the Columbus Dispatch, Akron Beacon Journal, National Public Radio, and others".

Actually I am pretty sure most of us on this site "know" about as much as Mr. Brown.  In my dealings with our own lease and helping a few others with a similar situation, I have not only learned a lot, I have dealt with the recorders office a bit... and they were "amazed" at how accurate my podunk research was.  

The best part  to me...... we have had a leasing frenzy in our county for 18 months.  These cards are a little late.    And on the  very bottom "Personally paid for by Craig and Rebecca Brown".   

To answer the original posters question.... I am not sure - I will check it out.  The recorders site does have a very nice search function- better than Carroll County's in my opinion.   Not sure about copies of units.

Sounds like he needs to be reminded that he was elected BY the people of Columbaina county to SERVE the people of the county. If he is unwilling to get the job done maybe he needs to step aside and let someone do the job who is willing to serve the needs of the county. Too many elected officials forget just why they got elected in the first place.

I wouldn't let CHK pay to keep the courthouse open either.  That's essentially a bribe.  You can't have companies paying public officials to do their bidding.  The Columbiana county Recorder is a giant horse's ass but on this one issue I agree with him.
